adidas launched NFT collection to score real products

The Future. adidas is launching an NFT collection today that extends the possibilities of its physical offerings, essentially acting as a token for all of the brand’s ambitions in the metaverse. While what adidas is selling is still a mystery, it may not matter — the promise of community and exclusivity with a storied brand may be enough.

adidas believes virtual is the next realm needing a fit upgrade.

• Dubbed “Into the Metaverse,” the collection of apparel will also give NFT holders the ability to access exclusive merch drops, allow them to provide input into future projects, and act as a key to unique experiences.
• An undisclosed amount of NFTs are on sale for .2 ETH, or roughly $800, on the adidas website.
• At the time of this writing, the public doesn’t know what these NFT clothes will look like quite yet.

adidas originally teased the offering with the giveaway of a limited number of Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAP) tokens last month.

Join the club
adidas isn’t going at the apparel line alone. It’s partnered with uber-popular NFT group Bored Apes Yacht Club, NFT comics collection Punk Comics, and mysterious crypto personality GMoney on the offering — so expect collabs galore.

Erika Wykes-Sneyd, VP of marketing for adidas Originals, says of the brand’s NFT and crypto ambitions: “There will be other experiences we’re putting together. The intent is this thing, this NFT, you belong to a community, and we continue to add value to that over time, and it’s gonna also evolve with what we’re learning about the community and how they’re changing and evolving.”
