Large-scale experiences are proven to be scientifically “transformative”

The Future.  Yale psychologists have found that attending mass-gathering festivals (focused on creativity) led to heightened feelings of connectedness to people and made them want to be more generous to others. As live events take off post-pandemic, these fests may be key to reversing an increased sense of isolation.

Power to the people
Per YaleNews, researchers at the university have scientific evidence that going to Burning Man is good for you.

  • The team, led by associate professor of psychology M.J. Crockett, published in Nature Communications that 63.2% of attendees of mass-gathering events reported having “transformative experiences so profound that they left the events feeling radically changed.”
  • That number included many people who came in with no expectation or desire to feel that transformation… and 28% were on psychedelics.
  • Those that underwent a transformative experience felt “socially connected with all human beings” for at least six months and wanted to be more generous to family, friends, and strangers.
  • And the longer they stayed at the festival, the longer those feelings lasted.

Most people surveyed were at Burning Man, Burning Nest, Lightning in a Bottle, Dirtybird, and Latitude — all events in the U.S. and U.K.

How much are tickets again?
