Intro connects experts with paying mentees

The Future. An app called Intro lets anyone book one-on-one video calls with experts across various industries — a sort of mix between MasterClass and Cameo. With a variety of industry luminaries essentially available at people’s fingertips, Intro may make it possible to get helpful feedback on a project from wherever you are in the world.

Intro wants to make it possible for you to sit down with any of your heroes.

• Unlike Cameo, the purpose of Intro’s video calls is to get professional advice or receive feedback on projects.
• Sessions come in 15, 30, 45, or 60-minute increments, with some 15-minute ones, like with interior designer Nate Berkus, running for $500 per hour.

The only thing you won’t get from the sessions is anything tangible — Intro doesn’t allow for text, images, or links to be sent through the app.

Education market
According to Fast Company, Intro was started late last year in L.A. by entrepreneur Raad Mobrem after a chance encounter with Kinko’s founder Paul Orfalea. He learned so much in that 15-minute conversation that he felt inspired to start Intro. The mission of Intro is to “democratize access” to the best and brightest in every industry.

The company has already received funding from several high-profile investors, like Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six, Andreessen Horowitz, CAA co-founder and former superagent Michael Ovitz, and Tiffany Hadish. The platform’s site says that experts on the platform could make up to $500,000 per year, of which Intro takes a 30% cut. It sounds like everybody is getting (even more) rich off of sharing their time and expertise.
