Apple To Release an AI Doctor

Apple is reportedly preparing a major update to its Health app to give users an AI agent that would mimic a personal doctor.

Why It Hits: CEO Tim Cook has been bullish on the prediction that Apple’s long-lasting legacy will be the tech giant’s innovations in health. While the company is still a long way from making that a reality, it’s creating the building blocks to make health and wellness a major part of its iOS ecosystem.

Behind the Check Ups: Need to get a physical? Soon, there’ll be an app for that.

  • Internally dubbed “Project Mulberry,” the feature would put an all-encompassing health coach AI agent within the Health app.
  • The agent would use all the health data collected by your devices — sleep, nutrition, biometrics, etc. — to provide personalized health insights and recommendations.
  • The AI may also one day be able to interact with your devices’ cameras, such as watching your workouts, so it can provide pointers on perfecting your form. We wouldn’t be surprised if it’s eventually used to answer things like, “Is this mole normal?”
  • Apple is working with in-house doctors and other medical experts to create explainer videos that the agent can show users when a health or lifestyle issue is identified.
  • It’s due for release as part of the iOS 19.4 update that’s scheduled for either spring or summer 2026.

Final Test: Apple is still making strides to include more sensors — such as ones that monitor glucose, blood oxygen, and hypertension — in the Watch. While those have encountered some legal and regulatory speed bumps, it seems inevitable that they’ll come online… which would make Project Mulberry multiples more powerful. And considering that Apple recently rolled out the biggest health study ever, the agent could have access to more data (both personalized and general) than ever imagined.

Go Deeper: Apple Intelligence is coming to the Vision Pro, so Project Mulberry may one day become a holographic doctor in mixed reality.
