The Future. Gen Z’s favorite brands only prove that the young generation is very online and cutting edge, but also has a soft spot for some classic brands that Millennials grew up with before smartphones were a thing. That bundle of contradictions may prove why corporate America’s rush to adopt everything from Web3 to TikTok is key to staying relevant to new consumers.
Cutting edge and nostalgic
Axios pulls out some of the key findings from Morning Consult’s new survey on what brands young people love most.
- Gen Z loves Big Tech, naming YouTube, Google, Netflix, and Amazon their top four favorite brands.
- They love brands like TikTok, Discord, Crocs, SHEIN, Snapchat, and Cash App much more than other US adults (at least 20 points higher).
- They’re also into two things that go hand-in-hand: gaming (which represents 6 of their top 20 favorite brands) and snacks (they love Cheetos, Sprite, and Skittles).
- And when it comes to social media platforms, Gen Z women are much more positive about them than men (except Twitter… guys love Twitter).
In a twist of hilarious irony, Gen Z also has a more negative view of capitalism than any other generation. However, their favorite brands may only care that their money spends the same.
