Meta Becomes UFC’s “Official Fan Technology Partner”

Together with

Combat-sports league UFC has inked a multi-year deal with Meta to make the tech giant its “Official Fan Technology Partner.”

Why it Hits: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and UFC CEO Dana White have been circling each other in recent years, with Zuck himself getting into mixed martial arts (and even competing in events) and White joining Meta’s board earlier this year. By teaming up, fans may soon get a chance to enter the Octagon… virtually, that is.

Behind the Octagon: How badly do you want to feel like you’re the one sweating and bleeding in a fight?

  • The deal will “immerse fans deeper into UFC content than ever before” across Meta’s various platforms and tech products.
  • Meta will also get branding inside the Octagon, will get certain digital broadcast rights, and will be integrated across all of UFC’s events.
  • Meta will also be the “Official AI Glasses Partner of UFC,” so expect some exclusive features to be shown in Quest headsets. (First-person POV fights in VR, anyone?)

Final Round: Even though it’s already the biggest mixed-martial arts league in the world, UFC is currently in its growth era. It combined with WWE under the Ari Emannuel-led TKO Group, broke records with an event at the Sphere in Las Vegas, and is negotiating a massive deal increase for TV and streaming rights with ESPN. The Meta partnership is simply another way to expand its global reach.
