Moment House invites funding to the livestream-concert party

Future. Moment House, a social, live-stream concert platform, raised $12 million to expand its reach and enhance its social-interaction tools. Having already worked with several top acts, Moment House wants to secure its spot as the go-to platform for virtual, high-quality concerts… The move could jumpstart the popularization of global, digital marquee events, even when in-person tours return to normal levels.

Make a Moment
Social live media platform Moment House — which has created events for artists such as Tame Impala, St. Vincent, and Isaiah Rashad — is having a… moment.

  • The startup just raised a $12 million Series A financing round from investors like UTA Ventures, Halsey, and Clubhouse’s Aarthi Ramamurthy.
  • The founders say they plan to use funding to scale their team and become the “go-to infrastructure” for virtual concerts, having already scored execs from Spotify, WME, and AEG Presents.
  • Additionally, it wants to pour money into improving its social features, such as “sub-grouping” fans into chat boxes during performances.
  • Moment House also hopes to help bring concerts into the coming metaverse (everyone’s new favorite buzzword).

Moment House focuses on putting on imaginative concerts (called “Moments”). Artists can either work closely with the company to pull off a vision or choose from a “self-serve” option, which allows artists to determine ticket prices, merchandise, and personalize post-concert events.

Adopting a creator-first approach, Moment House allows artists to keep 100% of ticket and merch sales. The company generates revenue through a 10% fee paid by ticket buyers.

Tour cap
Moment House has actually been around since ancient pre-COVID times. It was launched back in 2019 by Arjun Mehta, Nigel Egrari, and Shray Bansal in order to do for music what live media has done for sports. To date, Moment House has sold over a million tickets to concerts in over 168 countries.

But as live music makes its (slow, fitful) return, where does live streaming fit into the equation? Moment House is focused on creating global marquee events, such as the final gig for Tinashe after her in-person tour, or an album-launch concert for Halsey’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.
