The Future. Disney has doubled down on its commitment to Florida with an agreement to invest billions of dollars into expanding Walt Disney World — a move that would bring hundreds of thousands of tourists to the Sunshine State. With a brand new park in the works, expect it to be ground zero for Disney Imagineering’s cutting-edge innovations.

Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration have buried the hatchet.
- They’re working on an updated development agreement that would ensure Disney invests $17 billion over “the next 10 to 20 years” (with $8 billion spent within the first 10) as the flagship theme park expands closer to Orlando.
- The most tantalizing bit is that Disney would build a fifth park at the resort, which is already home to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Additionally, Disney plans to hire over 10,000 new park employees, including relocating about 2,000 workers from California.
The investment, once finalized, is part of Disney’s larger $60 billion investment into its parks worldwide, including the DisneylandForward project in California that will cost $1.9 billion and a just-completed $2 billion expansion at Tokyo Disney Resort.
And with NBCUniversal working on a massive expansion at Universal Studios Orlando, a project dubbed Epic Universe, the theme-park wars are really heating up.
