Power of Music tunes up a meet cute
The Future. A new dating app called Power of Music matches people based on their tastes in music, leveraging either a user’s Spotify or Apple Music accounts to find compatible partners. With dating apps already reaching absurd niche levels (Farmers Only, anyone?), POM may actually provide a surprisingly popular way to break the ice on the internet.
Spotify my heart
Sometimes, when you look at someone across the room, and that song hits just right, it’s love at first sight….so now there’s an app to capture that feeling.
- Power of Music (POM) is a dating app that uses a user’s musical taste to help facilitate matches.
- When users sign up, they connect their Spotify or Apple Music accounts.
- The app then asks users to fill out a questionnaire of how they emotionally respond to certain songs.
- Then it presents potential matches with who it thinks you are compatible with based on your taste.
The app, which just launched in August, is limited to only 25,000 sign-ups at the moment… but that is sure to expand soon.
With the company also hosting in-person dance parties, expect POM to fill an underserved sub-genre of online dating.
