Bored Ape Yacht Club invites CryptoPunks and Meebits to Yuga Labs

Future. Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Apes Yacht Club NFT collection, has acquired the CryptoPunks and Meebits brands from Larva Labs… making Yuga the biggest name in the NFT space. While Yuga Labs didn’t specify what it wants to do with the projects, it’s possible that the team could take a page out of the BAYC playbook, expanding CryptoPunks and Meebits into hybrid communities that cover everything from exclusive parties to brand deals.

• That means Yuga Labs now controls three of the most popular and influential NFT collections available.
• Per the deal, Larva Labs will still maintain control of a group of its “favorite Punks and Meebs.”

The CryptoPunks market is worth a jaw-dropping $2.2 billion while the Meebits market is worth a healthy $227 million.

How much Yuga Labs paid for the right to stewardship is still a mystery, but it probably used some of that fresh capital from a16z.
