Dispo snaps NFTs
The Future. Photo-sharing app Dispo is looking to the future with a new NFT-minting feature. It’s still in testing, but the feature could turn the app into a digital gallery, where users can show, buy, sell, and trade photos all in one place.
Hardly disposable
Dispo, the photo-sharing app that mimics the style and process of taking pics with a disposable camera, is making sure that captured images live forever.
- Dispo is testing a new feature that will allow users to sell their photos as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
- Users will be able to mint NFTs by clicking on a “Sell” button after “developing” a photo (photos don’t appear on your camera roll until 9am the next morning).
The company is still trying to figure out how the process will work. It hasn’t decided on which blockchain it plans on using, if it wants to partner with an NFT marketplace, or how much of a cut the app will take on sales.
Eternal exposure
CEO and co-founder Daniel Liss notes that social platforms of the past couldn’t figure out a way to let users immediately monetize their creations: “As a result, the only way that a creator with a big following is compensated is by selling directly to a brand, as opposed to profiting from the content itself.”
According to SensorTower, Dispo has been installed 4.7 million times since December 2019. As the NFT craze reaches a fever pitch, expect that number to increase once Dispo’s new features roll out wide.[/vc_column_text]The Future.
