UTA adds crypto to the roster with Rally
The Future. Top Hollywood agency United Talent Agency (UTA) is betting big on crypto by signing Rally (a platform for individuals to create social tokens) By tokenizing talent, UTA hopes to further monetize big names across art, sports, and music, potentially creating an assembly line of personality-driven currencies.
Rally the talent
UTA wants to package talent with its newest client: cryptocurrency.
- The agency has signed Rally — a “fan engagement and monetization toolkit” that allows users to create social tokens.
- UTA plans for Rally to help top talent build “sustainable, independent economies” that fans can join in order to access exclusive content or become part of exclusive communities.
- In order to take the heavy-lifting off of creators, UTA will probably handle most aspects of the platform’s infrastructure.
Personality tokens
Rally already has a strong track record of working with big names, having created tokens for Portugal. The Man, international soccer star Keisuke Honda, and Clubhouse personality Bomani X.
After UTA client Terry Crews made his own social currency earlier this year with Roll, UTA probably wants to make sure it stays ahead of the curve in connecting its clients to the new tech. One question still remains: will UTA still collect a 10% commission from token sales?
UTA Marketing will run point on the agency’s relationship with Rally, which will fall under the its newly-created Digital Assets division (one of the first of its kind for a major agency).
